January 28 & 29 Training: Elbow alignment & blue tape
"Basic Process training; "Draw with back tension to elbow behind the arrow"
Proper elbow alignment (elbow in line with the arrow) requires the use of the back muscles and movement of the scapula towards the spine. This structural alignment will allow your skeleton to hold the bow in position with little effort. The motion starts with the shoulders and bow arm in line with the target (barrel of the gun) and using the back to draw the string back to anchor and "hold" position. The draw elbow continues around further compressing the scapula until you aim and release the arrow allowing your hand to end up behind your ear. We will use blue tape on your back elbow to help remind you to use your back and not the weaker arm muscles. This straight alignment will allow your arrows to fly straighter and you to shoot more arrows without fatigue on the range.
